How it Works
Many people come to psychotherapy with a mix of hope, fear, and confusion. It can be a daunting experience to reach out to someone you don’t know and be asked to open up about your most internal thoughts and feelings. Psychotherapy is difficult to define, because it looks different for every person. In my view, psychotherapy is a way of learning to understand yourself and learning to talk about your subjective experience in a way that feels safe and supportive.
Most people meet with me once or twice a week for 45-60 minutes. Some people want to address specific issues or problems, such as a difficult decision or life transition. Other people want to process specific traumatic experiences so they can move on rather than staying fixated and stuck in the past. Others are looking to better understand the way their minds work, and gain more clarity and perspective on themselves in order to create a future life that feels aligned with their core values. Whatever brings you to my office, I do whatever I can to listen and provide an environment of safety and growth.
“Whatever brings you to my office, I promise to listen and provide an environment of safety and growth.”
